The Next Holiday Celebration

Mardi Gras 2018, Feb, 2018

Always Colorful

One of the reasons the French Quarter in New Orleans is a great place for second homes is the many many festivals and celebrations that happens in New Orleans. So many people and businesses like to decorate for the next celebration.

These photos are from a recent photo walk in the French Quarter. People decorate early and like to add color to balconies, porches and windows. You will see even more decorations in the next week.

People come to town with friend and relatives to enjoy the time and fun that the city has almost every month during the year.

Flags and ribbons are popular.    People put their Mardi Gras colored Flags on Balconies and Porches to show their love for this season.  Do You know what these colors represent?  Purple Represents Justice. Green Represents Faith. And Gold Represents Power.

Why do we have masks for Mardi Gras.  In the beginning, masks worn during Mardi Gras allowed wearers to escape society and class/culture background.   Now everyone wear masks.  From float riders to people in the crowd masks now show peoples personalities.

Balconies are decorated with the Mardi Gras color.  However, people will stand on the balconies during this seanson to throw beads to the people below them.

Why do we throw beads?   The action of throwing the beads to parade goers is really just a way to get people into the Mardi Gras spirit.
