Louis Armstrong Park is across the street from the New Orleans French Quarter on North Rampart Street. The Streetcar goes from the Expressway next to Bus Station to Elysian Fields. It is an easy walk from almost all areas in the French Quarter. Many people now ride bikes around when they visit and have second homes in the French Quarter, Marigny and Bywater.
The park is 32 acres with water canals and ponds, statues, artwork, bridges, lights and placesto sit next to the water and under many trees. Great place visit and learn about the historic place. The First Jazz Fest took place here in the 1970 year. There are other concerts in the park during the year.
You can also take the streetcar down N. Rampart which was put back on the street several years ago. You can see lots of flowers, trees and ducks and birds that like the canals. There have been an awful lot of updates in the last 10 years. There are building still being redone such as the Auditorium that was damaged during Hurrince Katrina in 2005.
The place was leveled in the 1960’s next to Condo Square . It now contains the Muncipal Auditotium, Mahlia Jackson Theater, and several other historic buildings. Name after the Musician who was from New Orleans, Louis Armstrong the trumpet Jazz Musician.
Take a Walk Through the Park
The walks take you over the water canals on unique bridges. There are many trees, plants and places to sit and rest when you walk. Lots of places to sit when there are concerts and Jazz Music…Great place to walk for second homers who own condos in the French Quarter and other nearby neighborhoods.
